Jim studied art at university, with an emphasis on painting, printmaking, and art history, resulting in receiving a BFA. He has continually explored painting in many facets both through style and mediums, including oil and currently acrylic paint.
If there are common threads of inspiration running throughout his work it would be an awareness of patterns especially drawn from nature. That is coupled with a strong focus on the interplay of light and dark. In a recent interview, where he was honored to be included in the Emerging Artists in Art New England magazine, there is a reference to pareidolia, the recognition of imagery in random viewing of things like clouds. The psychology of people seeing very different things looking at the same art he produces intrigues him.
Currently, Jim has studio space in Somerville MA at the Vernon Street Studios, belongs to a couple of artist groups, and continues to learn and explore through painting.
